GCSE YEAR: A MESSAGE FOR PARENTS & TEENS đź’›

GCSEs matter — but your child’s wellbeing matters too.

To the teenager starting a GCSE year:

You might already be hearing about revision, predicted grades, mocks and the future. It can feel like everyone suddenly expects you to know exactly what you’re doing.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

Start small. Attend your lessons. Ask when you don’t understand. Revise little and often. Rest when you need to. One difficult test does not decide your future.

And please remember: your grades measure your performance in an exam — they do not measure your worth.

To parents:

Our teenagers need encouragement, structure and accountability, but they also need somewhere they can admit, “I’m struggling,” without immediately feeling criticised.

Instead of only asking:

“Have you revised?”

Try asking:

“How are you feeling about school?”

“Is there anything you’re finding difficult?”

“What could I do this week that would make things easier?”

GCSE year doesn’t have to become a year of arguments and pressure.

It can be a year where teenagers learn resilience, responsibility and confidence — while knowing home is still their safe place.

đź’¬ TEENS: What are you most worried about this GCSE year?

đź’¬ PARENTS: What do you wish you had known when you were sitting your exams?

Save this for the difficult GCSE days. đź’›
